Blue Dresses in Ethiopia
The Afrikaner Heritage Project has been working to protect this park and its ecology from poachers over recent months. Now their group is working on the necessary and long overdue restoration. Over the summer, the group’s ranger coordinator, Mairai, made a short trip to Ethiopia to find out how he was able to find a safe environment to work to protect this magnificent bird.
When it was first introduced to the area, the African lion became a symbol around the region. The lion is a huge and graceful beast that lives in trees in the black forest of Ethiopia and comes from several wild fattens. It likes to keep its heads above ground and burrows down into rock formations and soil and then digs its way out of these rock formations. Most of the lions in Ethiopia’s black forest live under water and in waterlogged areas, or under trees.
